The 2016 Cash for Kids Mission Christmas appeal has raised an incredible £15,437,328 in gifts and cash, enabling us to support 362,694 disabled and disadvantaged children across the UK.
Mission Christmas lived and breathed on all Bauer City Network of radio stations plus Wave 105, Downtown Radio and Cool FM. For the first time the appeal also ran on Gem, Magic and Absolute Radio, and with a text donate mechanic on Planet Rock, providing a UK-wide call to action to donate gifts in partnership with Wickes and all of our local sponsors around the country.
In even more firsts Grazia magazine ran an article on child poverty which directed readers to donate to Mission Christmas, and we secured former JLS star Aston Merrygold as a new celebrity patron. Mission Christmas also received support on social media from former Spice Girls Geri Horner and Melanie C, Ant & Dec, Cheryl Cole and ex-One Direction star Liam Payne.
Cash for Kids were the beneficiary of the Mother & Baby awards for the 3rd year running, with more than £330,000 of product donations from leading nursery brands secured for Mission Christmas thanks to the Mother & Baby team. We also received a fantastic surprise donation from Rio Ferdinand of £500,000 in gifts to Key 103’s Mission Christmas!
To everyone who donated a gift or cash, volunteered or came to an event we want to say a huge THANK YOU for making this appeal possible. Because of your generosity hundreds of thousands of children living in poverty across the UK will wake up to presents on Christmas morning.
